North Carolina State Flower: Dogwood

North Carolina State Flower Coloring

North Carolina chose the Dogwood as its State Flower. Virginia also uses it as their State Flower and 2 states use the Dogwood Tree as their State Tree. 

Dogwood flowers can be White, shades of Pink, or Reddish. They have a very nice scent and the fragrance perfumes the air in the Spring. In the Autumn the leaves of the trees put on another display as they turn Red and Orange. 

The bark of the Dogwood tree is as distinctive as the flower and is used in furniture and as a great wood for fires.
